With the arrival of Season 9 in Diablo 4, players are once again seeking the most efficient ways to collect Obducite. Recent game updates have changed some of the best-known farming spots, prompting new strategies for maximizing your gains. Below, you’ll find the top methods for farming Obducite quickly after the Diablo 4 S9 Patch 2.3.1, as well as the details you need to optimize your runs throughout the season.
Obducite is still one of the most sought-after resources in Diablo 4’s Season 9. It is awarded for completing various activities and is essential for progressing through seasonal content. Players are always looking for ways to maximize their Obducite collection since it’s needed for upgrades and advancing in the seasonal journey.
After the latest patch, the go-to Obducite farm was removed from the game. Previously, players could repeatedly farm a Horadric Strong Room from the seasonal quest "The Embers Yet Smolder," but this method is no longer available. Players now need to find alternative approaches.
One highly effective strategy involves leveraging a bug that allows you to repeatedly access Horadric Strong Rooms without needing special sigils. Begin by logging into the game and using any Nightmare Dungeon sigil, there’s no requirement for specific affixes. When you activate the sigil, your map centers on the related Nightmare Dungeon, but you don’t actually enter it.
Instead, visit the boss lairs across the map. Start at any boss lair you prefer and check for the activation of the Horadric Wayfinder, the purple beam that points toward Horadric Strong Rooms. If nothing appears in one lair, move to the next. Continue rotating through boss lairs until the Wayfinder activates.
Once you find the correct lair, follow the Wayfinder to the Horadric Strong Room. Enter, clear the room, and loot the chest at the end. On higher difficulties like Torment 4, you’ll typically receive several ancestral items, a possible escalation sigil, and around 2,300 Obducite.
The best part about this method is that it’s repeatable. After finishing a Strong Room, use the portal to leave and return to searching the boss lairs. You can repeat this process as long as your original Nightmare Dungeon sigil remains active. This approach is even more effective in a group, as teammates can split up to search boss lairs faster and alert each other when a Strong Room is found.
Another fast method involves boosting a new character and skipping the main seasonal storyline. Power-level a new character (for example, a rogue) up to around level 60, equipping them with your best gear but avoiding any progression in the story or seasonal quests.
At the start of the game, head to Saragar and talk to Briana. Complete the initial objectives until you obtain the Horadric Wayfinder. When the Wayfinder points to Demon's Wake, enter that dungeon, which functions similarly to a Nightmare Dungeon.
Clear Demon's Wake, following the Wayfinder until you reach the Horadric Strong Room. Defeat the boss and loot the chest but do not pick up the Blood Relic quest item. Instead, leave the dungeon through the portal and use the "Reset Dungeons" function on your map screen.
Reenter Demon's Wake, which now resets as a fresh instance. The process can be repeated: clear the dungeon, collect Obducite, and avoid picking up the quest item. This method yields about 2,500 to 3,000 Obducite per run and can be cycled as quickly as you can clear the dungeon and reset it.
To max your farming, we suggest you keep the following tips in mind:
Group Play: Forming a group speeds up the process, as each person can check different boss lairs and coordinate locating the active Wayfinder.
Gear Up: Use your best available gear to power through the dungeons and Strong Rooms quickly.
Skip Quest Items: For the new character method, always skip picking up the Blood Relic to reset the instance properly.
Torment Level: Higher difficulties offer more Obducite per run, so increase the world tier as your gear allows.
