ACNH Sea Creature Guide

With Animal Crossing New Horizons update 1.3.0, Nintendo added swimming and diving. But there are also new catches to be made with sea creatures which are therefore added to ACNH. Here's everything you need to know about their capture and the full list of 40 sea creatures.

Before continuing, we would like to clarify a few details that are important:

  • There are a total of 40 sea creatures to catch in Animal Crossing New Horizons

  • Scallops can be given to Pascal in exchange for a Mermaid DIY Receipt

  • Sea creatures can be classified into different levels of rarity, ranging from common to very rare

  • Some sea creatures only appear after making a certain number of ascent. These are increments of 20 (20, 40, 60 and 80), so logically, after 80 lifts, you will have the possibility of crossing all the existing sea creatures

  • New sea creatures can be given to Thibou, you are warned when you catch a new one (always with a text screen before the little catching joke)

  • lIt is possible to capture pearls which will then serve as materials for the mermaid DIY Receipt

How To Catch A Sea Creature In Animal Crossing New Horizons?

Let's start with a very simple precision: to catch a sea creature, you have to go into the water, and therefore have your diving equipment. To do this, you just have to take a look at our article which explains everything you need to know and in particular how to swim and dive.

To find a sea creature, you will notice, when you swim, places where bubbles appear. This is where a sea creature is hiding. Dive using the Y button and once in the water, just collect the creature with a press of A. That's it. If you’re not in the right place, turn around the shade.

How To Catch Fast Evasive Sea Creature Easily?

There are some Animal Crossing fast evasive sea creatures in the sea, such as Gigas Giant Cram, Giant Isopod and Sea Pig, which move fast when you are closing to them, and harder to be catch than the slow ones. So ultimately chasing after them while you’re directly behind them is not advised. Use the below tricks you will be able to get all of the fast evasive sea creatures super easily in ACNH:

  • 1. You need to use the borders of your entire town in order to move them towards that so push them towards the wall and then you’ll be able to get them.

  • 2. If you notice they’re kind of moving away from the wall, stop chasing them directly surface up to the very top, take a wide so that you can ultimately get them pinned against the wall, and then can proceed to push them at the wall there.

  • 3. They’ll get confused and most likely just meet you halfway and you’ll be able to catch them. Don’t spend 5, 10, 20 minutes chasing after one creature.
