In Path of Exile 3.26 Secrets of the Atlas, mercenaries are one of the most powerful additions to character progression, and getting the right mercenary with the right abilities is essential to optimizing your build. If you're looking for the best PoE 3.26 mecenery builds, this article is for you.
Whether you're clearing juiced Tier 17 maps or trying to melt Uber bosses, the right mercenary can push your build to new heights. From the all-rounder Kineticist, to the game-breaking Doriani’s Prototype merc, to the Shock & Chill Bot support merc that can carry any elemental build — these are the setups dominating the meta right now. We’ll break down the top 3 PoE 1 3.6 best mercenary gear, including how to gear them, which skills to use, and how to efficiently target farm the mercenary type you need.
This is PoE 3.26 best mercenary build for general content and Tier 17 maps, along with multiple alternatives based on utility, defenses, and offensive needs. Str + Dex + Int can equip all gear types, giving you maximum flexibility (can wear both INT and STR gear, which other mercs can’t combine).

With -200% lightning resistance, enemies become instantly vaporized by any lightning damage source.

Step 1: Understand Mercenary Attribute Classes
Each mercenary belongs to one of several attribute combinations:
Strength
Dexterity
Intelligence
Strength + Dex
Strength + Int
Dex + Int
Strength + Dex + Int (e.g. Kineticist, Sanguar)
Each attribute category has 5 mercenaries, except for pure Intelligence, which has 6. This is key to your exile strategy (more on that below).
Step 2: Choose Your Farming Map – Use Canyon
The best map for mercenary farming is Canyon (T16):
Straightforward layout
Easy to reach boss quickly
High density for influence procs
How to Get Canyon Maps:
Use Orb of Horizons on any T16 map until it becomes Canyon. This works with maps like Ghetto, Mesa, Palace, Basilica, etc.
Step 3: Influence Setup & Atlas Tree
Apply either Eater of Worlds or Exarch influence.
Don’t worry about map mods or mechanics — you're just speed running to the boss.
The influence will:
Enable progress farming (fragments worth ~70 chaos)
Occasionally enhance loot
Keep killing a few monsters to trigger the influence effect before heading to the boss.
Step 4: Master the Exile System (KEY for Target Farming)
This is where most of the targeting happens.
How Mercenary Exile Works:
You can exile up to 3 mercenary classes at once.
Exiling a class prevents mercenaries of that type from spawning for the next 2 maps.
Optimal Exile Strategy:
Always keep Intelligence exiled. It has the most mercs (6), making it the most likely to show up and interfere.
Exile two more classes that are NOT the type you're farming.
This dramatically increases your odds of getting your target mercenary type.
Example:
You're targeting Kineticist (Str + Dex + Int):
Exile: Intelligence, Strength + Int, Dex + Int
Now only two mercs from Str+Dex+Int can spawn, improving odds.
Step 5: Loop the Farm
Each run should take less than 2 minutes:
Enter Canyon map with influence.
Kill a few mobs to activate the influence.
Beeline straight to the boss.
Check for mercenary spawn.
If it’s a class you don’t want — exile it.
Repeat the process with a new Canyon map.
