This guide explains everything you need to know about Supplication, a powerful Unique sword for Paladins in Diablo 4. Learn what Supplication does, where to find it, how to farm it efficiently in Season 11, and the best Paladin build to max out its potential.

Diablo 4 Supplication Affixes, Drop Bosses/Locations & Best Build

Supplication is a Unique One-Handed Sword exclusive to the Paladin class. Its core power lies in radically altering the Brandish Basic Skill. Instead of a simple forward slash, Brandish unleashes explosive waves of holy energy in all directions around your character, dealing massively increased damage. This makes it a cornerstone weapon for aggressive "Disciple" playstyles focused on mobility and precise positioning.

D4 Supplication Effects & Affixes

Unique Effect:

Brandish Unleashes in all directions dealing 150-300%[x] increased damage.

Curated Affixes:

  • +33% Basic Damage

  • +89-99 Strength

  • +13.5-22.5% Basic Attack Speed

  • +46.5-60.0% Chance for Brandish to Deal Double Damage

  • +2-3 to Brandish

Supplication Benefits:

  • Massive AoE Transformation: Turns Brandish from a single-direction attack into a devastating 360-degree area-of-effect (AoE) explosion. Perfect for clearing dense packs of enemies.

  • Insane Single-Target Potential ("Shotgunning"): By positioning yourself directly on top of a large enemy or boss, all the directional waves can hit simultaneously, dealing catastrophic damage.

  • Basic Skill Synergy: Significantly boosts the power of Basic Skill-focused builds, allowing them to scale effectively into endgame content.

  • Synergy with Paladin Mechanics: Works exceptionally well with the Disciple Oath (specifically the Arbiter transformation) and Aspects that enhance Basic Skills, Maximum Resource, or Holy damage.

  • High Mobility Playstyle: Encourages an aggressive, in-your-face playstyle where you constantly reposition to maximize the AoE and shotgun effects.

Diablo 4 Supplication Drop Bosses and Locations
Supplication primarily drops from the treasure hoards of specific Lair Bosses. You need summoning materials to fight these bosses and open their hoards:

Grigoire:

  • Location: Hall of the Penitent (located in Dry Steppes, just south of its capital, Ked Bard)

  • Lair Keys: 12 Living Steel

Notes:

  • Supplication is NOT a guaranteed drop from these bosses. Be prepared for multiple runs.

  • You can also choose Supplication as your target loot after defeating Belial, if you have the required materials.

How to Get D4 Supplication in Season 11?

1. Reach World Tier 4 (Torment)

Supplication is a high-tier Unique item. It can only drop from Uber Bosses or have a chance to be obtained from other sources when you are playing on World Tier 4 (Torment). Therefore, you must first ensure your character has unlocked this World Tier.

2. Farm Lair Keys: Obtain 12 Living Steel

Supplication can be acquired from the treasure hoard after defeating Grigoire, an Initiate Lair Boss. To open this hoard, you need to consume 12 Living Steel as the required Lair Key. You can farm this material through the following open-world content:

  • Helltides

  • World Bosses

  • Nightmare Dungeons

Additionally, all Initiate Lair Bosses have a chance to drop Stygian Stones. This item can be converted into any Lair Key. If you find Living Steel farming inefficient, you can use this method as an indirect supplement.

3. Locate and Defeat the Target Boss: Grigoire

After gathering 12 Living Steel, head to Grigoire's spawn location—the Hall of the Penitent. It is situated in the Dry Steppes region, just south of its capital, Ked Bardu. This area is accessible on all Torment difficulties. Note that no materials are required to summon Grigoire; the battle will trigger once you arrive. After defeating the boss, keep an eye out for a smaller version of Belial (Mini Belial) that may appear on the battlefield. Defeating it will reward you with the Betrayer's Husk, which is needed to open Belial's Hoard in the Palace of the Deceiver—you can collect it while you're at it.

4. Open the Hoard and Claim Supplication

Upon Grigoire's defeat, a chest named Grigoire’s Hoard will spawn. You can unlock it by consuming 12 Living Steel. Importantly, Supplication does not drop directly from the boss itself—it has a chance to appear in this treasure hoard. If you don't get Supplication on the first try, repeat the cycle: farm Living Steel → travel to the Hall of the Penitent → defeat Grigoire → open the hoard until you successfully obtain the target item.

Alternative Methods to Get Supplication Sword in Diablo 4

While farming Lair Bosses is the best way, Supplication can also drop from:

  • Helltide Chests: Farm Aberrant Cinders during Helltides and open Tortured Gifts of Mysteries (best chance) or other chests.

  • The Purveyor of Curiosities: Gamble Murmuring Obols on One-Handed Swords. The chance is very low, but possible.

  • World Bosses / Legion Events / Nightmare Dungeons / Whisper Caches: General high-tier loot sources, but extremely low targetability.
