The handling of items in Path of Exile always weighs profits with minimum risks. This article will talk about what to do with different types of PoE 2 items: selling, crafting, keeping, or others?

What to Do with Items in Path of Exile 2 - Should You Sell PoE 2 Items

To make the best use of each item in Path of Exile 2 Dawn of the Hunt, start by checking its item level, then considering the base type, mod tiers, market demand, and other factors.

Low-level items

What to do with PoE 2 items with an item level lower than 78? The best action is to sell. Because low-tier items can’t roll max-tier modifiers, and crafting them is inefficient, you can buy a better base at cheaper prices. Some rare exceptions are focus-caster items like wands with +gem levels might be worth regaling if they have a high-tier spell damage or cast speed line. For example, if you have a level 70 wand with +1 to fire gems but trash suffixes, you should sell it unless for leveling.

White bases

What to do with white base items in PoE 2? The answer is still selling. As crafting white bases is high risk, and the market pays well for high ilvl meta bases (82+), such as Siege Crossbow. Recombinating cheap 1-mod items is more efficient than crafting from scratch. For example, if you have an ilvl 82 Siege Crossbow white base, it is recommended to sell it for Exalted Orbs.

Boots

If you come across boots to have 35% increased movement speed, consider crafting them with greater essences or Regal Orbs. On the other hand, if the boots have low life regeneration and freeze duration, it may be better to sell those boots instead of pouring more resources. In the endgame, boots may lose value, so think twice about the expense of crafting them. If the boots have a minimum of one decent stat line, the odds of them being crafted successfully are higher; however, physically selling might yield a greater reward, considering they can be helpful for someone else.

Body armor

For base body armor like Rambler Jacket, sell them if they have low or mid-tier rolls like T5 resistances, and no meta synergy. But craft them if they have 2-3 high-tier modes like T1 life + T1 resist and meta anointments/implicits. For example, with a Corpse Ward Rambler Jacket with Explosive Impact + T13 life, check out the market demand; if the demand is low, this means it is not really worth investing further. So it is better to sell this item. And for a ring with T9 strength + T7 fire damage → catalyst attributes first and sell.

Amulet

If you have a Chimeric Noose Gold Amulet, it grants you a +3 to minion skills and features multiple rarity lines, totaling around 46% rarity, along with some cast speed, mana, and energy shield bonuses. There is, however, no max rarity rolls on either of the prefix or suffix slots. Due to the low rolls in cast speed and mana, enhancing this item further isn’t advisable. It’s a good item as is, but in a scenario with max-tier rarity and top rolls, crafting efforts would be warranted, such as using an Omen of Whittling to raise its value. Because your current amulet has a number of low rolls, leaving it unmodified as opposed to raising it to a top-tier status would be more favorable due to the cost and effort needed.

Rings

For Breach rings, only craft when they have triple T1/T2 attack mods and high attributes + life for attribute stackers. Most are better off sold with appropriate catalysts. For example, Beast Twirl Breach Ring typically has low-tier rolls in key attributes, it is best to sell it outright since further modifications will likely not yield a profitable outcome. Armageddon Circle Breach Ring offers decent rolls across multiple attributes.  Prioritize catalyzing it with attack-focused catalysts like Reaver, as physical and fire attack enhancements are in demand. If resources are limited, you might opt for attribute catalysts to increase their market value before selling. Agony Grasp Breach Ring features high rolls and is likely already effective as is. While you might consider swapping modifiers or adding a Reaver catalyst, the risk involved in chasing perfect stats may not justify the effort. It’s advisable to hold off on excessive modifications and keep it.

How to make a fast decision?

  • Always sell low-tier, non-meta, or poorly rolled items.

  • Only craft high item level, meta bases with strong modifiers.

  • Use catalysts strategically, catalyst attack for weapons, and attributes for jewelry.

  • Corrupt in proper time, usually for endgame gear or gambles.
