The Genesis Tree is a Breach-exclusive crafting and progression system in Path of Exile 2. The 0.5 Patch completely reworks Breach endgame content, offering players a reliable way to craft exclusive high-tier gear, rare catalysts, valuable currency, and powerful Breachstones. Unlike traditional crafting methods in PoE 2, this system relies on Breach-specific resources and passive tree customization. This guide focuses on how to unlock the Genesis Tree, farm Genesis Tree points, claim all rewards, optimize catalyst setups, and master core crafting strategies.
The Genesis Tree is a unique endgame crafting and progression system tied entirely to the revamped Breach mechanic in PoE 2 0.5. Gifted to the Keepers of the Flame by the Dreamer and stolen from enemy Hiveborn forces, this ancient tree resides in the new endgame hub: The Monastery of the Keepers.
Its core function is converting two Breach-farmed resources — Wombgifts and Hiveblood — into craftable items, including exclusive ring, amulet, and belt base types, rare catalysts, currency, and Breachstones. Every node on the Genesis Tree modifies crafting outcomes, letting players fully customize their crafting focus for specific gear or resource gains. Notably, all Catalysts in PoE 2 0.5 are no longer dropped by monsters; they can only be obtained through the Genesis Tree, making this system essential for endgame jewel and gear optimization.
The Genesis Tree is not available by default. Players must complete a series of Breach storyline objectives to unlock access, with clear steps for early endgame progression.
Step 1: Locate and Activate First Breach Encounter
Enter any endgame map marked with a purple flame Breach icon on the waypoint. Interact with the Breach Hands in the map to open a Breach rift and trigger the new Keepers of the Flame questline. Ailith, a core NPC for the Breach storyline, will appear beside the rift to start your quest progression.
Step 2: Stabilize Breaches
All Breaches in 0.5 feature a new dual-color progress bar. Fill the dark purple progress bar by defeating spawning Hiveborn monsters to fully stabilize the Breach. Once stabilized, elite mini-bosses spawn at the rift center. Defeat these elites to complete the Breach encounter and receive basic Breach loot.
Step 3: Travel to The Monastery of the Keepers
After your first stabilized Breach, follow the quest prompt to travel toThe Monastery of the Keepers, a new hub area located south of your starting Atlas location. This hub is the permanent home of the Genesis Tree and all Breach endgame content.
Step 4: Complete Keepers of the Flame Questline
Speak with Ailith inside the monastery to continue the questline. She will introduce the Genesis Tree lore, grant your first Lavish Wombgift, and guide you to interact with the tree for the first time. Insert the Wombgift into the tree to finish the introductory tutorial and fully unlock the Genesis Tree for permanent use.
Step 5: Unlock Advanced Breach Content (Optional)
To access endgame Breach domains and top-tier Genesis Tree rewards, stabilize 5 total Breaches and return to Ailith. She will reward a Breachstone, which unlocks Breach Domains featuring Breach Hives, Sky Hives, and Sky Fortress encounters with exclusive bosses and loot.
Genesis Tree passive points are required to allocate crafting nodes and unlock specialized crafting branches. Players can earn up to 15 passive points per Womb branch, with three reliable farming methods:
1. Progress Through the Keepers of the Flame Questline
The main questline awards the majority of base Genesis Tree points. Completing key quest milestones and defeating the pinnacle Breach boss Xesht, We That Are One grants bonus passive points to expand your node allocation potential.
2. Allocate Breach Atlas Skill Tree Nodes
The entire Breach Atlas Passive Tree has been fully revamped in 0.5 with new and reworked nodes. Many specialized Breach Atlas passives grant extra Genesis Tree points for specific Womb branches. Investing points here lets you deepen specialization in your preferred crafting paths (currency, rings, amulets, belts, or Breachstones).
3. Grow Items in Genesis Tree Wombs
Every time you use a Womb to craft and grow an item, you gradually unlock new nodes along that specific branch. Fully progressing a single Womb branch rewards additional free Genesis Tree passive points. This method is perfect for players focusing on one or two crafting specialties.
4. Free Respec Feature
A key benefit of the Genesis Tree is zero respec cost. You can freely refund and reallocate all passive nodes at any time to adjust your crafting strategy for different loot targets, no currency required.
All Genesis Tree crafting relies on two exclusive Breach resources, both farmed solely from Breach encounters. Understanding these resources is critical for efficient crafting.
1. Hiveblood
Function: The non-tradeable fuel for all Genesis Tree crafting. Every item growth process consumes a set amount of Hiveblood, based on Wombgift type and allocated passive nodes.
Storage & Display: Hiveblood does not appear in your inventory. You can only view your current total when interacting with the Genesis Tree.
Cap: Maximum storage limit of 100,000 Hiveblood per character.
Farm Source: Dropped by all monsters in active Breach encounters, including regular Hiveborn and elite enemies.
2. Wombgifts
Wombgifts are special Breach loot items that determine the final crafted item type. Each Wombgift must be placed into its matching Womb slot on the Genesis Tree to start crafting. There are 5 unique Wombgift types with fixed crafting outputs:
Lavish Wombgift (BreachFruit 2): Grows into Currency items and Catalysts
Signet Wombgift (BreachFruit 3): Grows into exclusive PoE 2 Ring bases
Ornate Wombgift (BreachFruit 5): Grows into exclusive Amulet bases
Banded Wombgift (BreachFruit 1): Grows into exclusive Belt bases
Revelatory Wombgift (BreachFruit 4): Grows into Breachstones
Additionally, stacked Breachstone Splinters (dropped from Breach monsters) convert into special Wombgifts, which can be exchanged at the Genesis Tree for full Breachstones.
The Genesis Tree provides access to brand-new exclusive bases, mods, endgame gear, and rare Catalysts unavailable anywhere else in PoE 2 0.5.
1. Exclusive New Item Bases
All these new bases can only be crafted via the Genesis Tree:
6 new exclusive Ring base types
4 new exclusive Amulet base types
4 new exclusive Belt base types
2. New Craftable Mods
The Genesis Tree adds a unique pool of caster and minion-focused modifiers that can be crafted exclusively onto Rings and Belts, greatly boosting build customization for spell-based and minion-based builds.
3. Catalyst System Overhaul
Monster Catalyst drops are completely removed in 0.5. All Catalysts now come from Genesis Tree crafting. A total of 12 new Catalysts are added, which provide unique quality modifiers specifically for Jewels, making endgame jewel scaling far more powerful.
4. Special Unique Reward: Grasping Mail
Players can unlock the secret Grasping Orchid crafting option via the Breach Atlas passive tree’s Flesh Flower node. Unlock this node to enable special interactions with the Stabilised Breach boss Vruun, Marshal of Xesht, who can drop the Head of Vruun. Return this head to Ailith to unlock Grasping Orchid. Once unlocked, you can exchange 60 Breach Rings at the Grasping Orchid for Grasping Mail, a level 81 body armor that spawns powerful ring-related modifiers and can be further enhanced with new Catalysts.
Different Womb branches cater to different profit and build goals. Below are the optimal setups for new players and endgame farmers, including the best Catalyst-focused configuration.
1. New Player Beginner Setup (Safe Consistent Profit)
Focus entirely on the Lavish Wombgift (Currency/Catalyst branch). This setup guarantees steady, reliable income with minimal RNG risk. Allocate nodes that boost Catalyst drop chance, duplicate Catalyst outputs, and unlock dual-type Catalysts. This is the most stable farming method for early endgame players to generate divines and chaos orbs.
2. Endgame Meta Setups
Genesis Tree for Rings
Allocate nodes for increased Breach Ring quality (up to 20–25% max quality), refined Breach Ring chance, and maximum modifier rolls, such as Otherworldly Clutch. Breach Rings are extremely valuable due to their high quality and demand for Grasping Mail crafting and recombining. Prioritize nodes for max mana rolls and spell/melee affixes for top-tier sellable rings.

Genesis Tree for Amulets
Spec into nodes that grant extra chances for Lament/Portent/Absent amulets, which spawn free spirit skills (30/60/100 spirit cost). These amulets can grant broken free skills like Archmage or Eternal Rage, selling for dozens of Divines. Add suffix max-roll nodes to boost gem level modifiers, the most valuable stat on endgame amulets.

Genesis Tree for Belts
Focus on nodes that guarantee multiple minion modifiers, minimum level 50 minion affixes, and melee splash effects. These belts are meta for popular minion/companion builds and have consistent high trade value. Prioritize reservation efficiency and minion damage modifiers for maximum profit.

3. Optimal Catalyst Setup
Since Catalysts are exclusive to the Genesis Tree, use this optimized node setup for maximum Catalyst yield:
Fully spec the Lavish Currency Womb into Catalyst-only nodes
Stack all 15% extra Catalyst chance nodes
Unlock nodes for different-type Catalyst rolls and dual Catalyst spawns
Activate Breach Atlas passives to boost Hiveblood and Wombgift drops for continuous crafting
This setup lets you farm high-value jewel Catalysts consistently, one of the most profitable endgame resources in 0.5.
