Animal Crossing
August 2026 brings a packed lineup of seasonal content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, with totally different gameplay experiences for Northern and Southern Hemisphere islands. For Northern Hemisphere players, this month marks the final wave of summer-themed events, crafting materials, and seasonal activities to wrap up the sunny season. For Southern Hemisphere players, it is a transitional month that bids farewell to winter’s exclusive content and kicks off fresh spring crafting opportunities. Besides seasonal gameplay changes, August hosts multiple limited-time festival events with unique decorative items, wearable outfits, and interactive island activities. This guide covers every new event, exclusive item, seasonal update, and bonus related news for ACNH in August 2026, helping players collect all limited rewards before they expire.

The biggest feature of August 2026’s ACNH updates is the hemisphere-based seasonal split. Northern Hemisphere islands stay in full summer mode throughout the month, with the last Bug-Off competition and the final deadline for summer shell DIY recipes. Southern Hemisphere islands experience a major seasonal shift: they lose all winter snowflake crafting content on August 24 and unlock brand-new young spring bamboo crafting materials and recipes on August 25. Meanwhile, five weekly Fireworks Shows run across the entire month for all players, paired with three limited-time Nook Shopping themed events (Obon, Cowherd & Weaver Girl Day, Tomato Festival) that offer cultural and playful exclusive items. All seasonal and event content is time-locked, so players need to follow the exact dates to avoid missing rare collectibles.
1. Monthly Core Event: Weekly Fireworks Show (August 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 2026)
The Fireworks Show is the signature summer event of August in ACNH, a classic series tradition first added to the game in the 1.4.0 Summer Update Wave 2. In 2026, the show takes place on five consecutive Sundays in August, available for players in both hemispheres. The event draws inspiration from traditional Japanese summer hanabi taikai (firework festivals), bringing a bright, festive atmosphere to every player’s island.
On each event day, the island weather is permanently clear, and exclusive festive background music plays all evening. Island villagers will gather to watch the fireworks, clap and sing along, creating a warm, lively island vibe. The event has fixed interactive rules and exclusive item rewards for players to collect.
Key Fireworks Show Gameplay Rules
Isabelle will stand outside the Resident Services building all day during the Fireworks Show. Players can submit up to 10 custom designs to be turned into in-game fireworks, and they can adjust the launch order of these custom fireworks freely. It is important to note that the Civic Consultation Counter inside Resident Services will be completely unavailable on show days because Isabelle is stationed outside full-time. Additionally, Isabelle will give every player a random bopper hat for free when players talk to her during the event, which is a exclusive limited headwear for the fireworks festival.
Redd will set up a special raffle stand in the island event plaza during each Fireworks Show. Players can buy raffle tickets for 500 Bells each, and every ticket rewards one random handheld or festive item from a fixed prize pool. The Able Sisters shop also updates its inventory on show days, selling three types of traditional Japanese summer festival outfits exclusively.
