Animal Crossing
Six years into its life cycle, Animal Crossing: New Horizons keeps finding new ways to surprise its players. One of the most exciting things happening in 2026 is the return of official Nintendo islands you can actually visit through the Dream Suite. These special islands give you a rare glimpse into how Nintendo and its partners design their own worlds inside the game, and they often come loaded with exclusive custom designs, themed builds, and creative ideas you can bring back to your own island. If you have not toured one yet, this guide walks you through everything worth knowing.

Official islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are surprisingly rare, which is exactly what makes them worth talking about. Nintendo of Japan maintains its own long-running island, and every once in a while, a big corporate collaboration produces a second one that anyone around the world can visit. As of mid-2026, both are currently live, giving players a fantastic opportunity to check them out back-to-back. Before jumping into the dream addresses and what to grab from each, here is a closer look at what these islands actually are.
Nintendo official islands are Dream Suite destinations built and maintained directly by Nintendo or its licensed partners, rather than by regular players. They exist as promotional spaces that celebrate Animal Crossing itself, related Nintendo franchises, or brand collaborations.
There really are not that many official Animal Crossing islands out there. Aside from Nintendo of Japan's permanent island and the occasional collab-based release, few others qualify. You may have seen brand-themed islands floating around online, such as an old IKEA one from years back, but most of those were not official partnerships with Nintendo. In fact, Nintendo does not allow players to use Dream Islands to advertise, so any officially licensed island is a rare exception.
The biggest reason to visit an official island is the custom design portal. Both Nintendo's island and the current Baskin-Robbins island offer designs you cannot get anywhere else, including sweaters, uniforms, food packaging, flags, and standees. These are usually pro designs, so they take up your pro slots, but they are safe forever once saved to your Able Sisters portal.
Even if you are not chasing designs, official islands are packed with build ideas. From customized fences and unique flag placements to themed mazes, wedding areas, and playful market squares, there is a lot to borrow for your own forever island.
Getting to an official island is exactly the same process as visiting any other Dream Suite destination, but here is a refresher for anyone who has not done it in a while.
Interact with any bed on your island and choose the option to dream. Luna will greet you inside the Dream Suite, asking how you would like to prepare your dream.
Select the option to search by dream address. Your game will connect online to browse the library of dreams.
Type in the 12-digit dream address for the island you want to visit. Luna will confirm the island name, and after a short loading moment, you will wake up on that island.
While you are dreaming, you cannot pick up items, use tools you do not already have, or take anything home except for custom designs. Visit the custom designs portal near the entrance to grab any patterns you want, and use the in-game camera to snap reference photos of builds.
To return home, simply lie back down on the same bed you spawned near. Luna will handle the rest.
Currently, there are two official islands live in 2026 that anyone can visit. Each one offers a completely different vibe, so it is worth touring both.
Dream Address: DA-6382-1459-4417
This is Nintendo of Japan's long-running official island, and it has been quietly updated over the years with fresh custom designs and small tweaks. It is a mixed-theme island featuring Mario zones, Sanrio villager houses, Pocket Camp-inspired items, seasonal decor, and a fun Mario-style mini level you can walk through.
The island features a full residential area where villagers like Marty and Sanrio characters live side by side. There is a Mario Land section that spells out "MARIO" with pipes that transport you to hidden secret beaches, a coin trail to follow, and a mini Bowser castle to reach at the end. Custom-designed flags sit atop mushrooms at the entrance, which is a clever trick many players had no idea was possible. The plaza has been extended into a shopping district, and there are cozy touches like tiny vegetable patches, a barbecue area, a wedding zone with Princess Peach references, and Brewster with his own outdoor cafe plaque.
New pixel art holiday sweater designs have recently been added, including a jingle sweater, a bell sweater, and a wreath sweater. Face cutout standees, fossil umbrellas, coconut tree fans, and Tom Nook shirts are all available too. With the 3.0 update now in the wild, this island is expected to receive further updates featuring hotel-related items and other new content.

This one is brand new, launched in July 2026 as part of the massive Baskin-Robbins x Animal Crossing collaboration happening in Japan. Even though the real-world merch and ice cream flavors are Japan-exclusive, the dream island itself is open to everyone worldwide.
The map itself is shaped like the number 31, a clever nod to the classic Baskin-Robbins 31 flavors branding. The villager lineup fits the theme perfectly, including Meringue, Mint, Cheddar, and Tangy, all matching ice cream or dairy references. A full-scale Baskin-Robbins storefront has been recreated with custom-designed bags, boxes, menus, and ice cream cake displays. Outside, there are ice cream machines, giant scoop patterns on the ground, slushy machines, customized manholes, and beach towels shaped like ice cream cones.
The island includes an outdoor cafe, a market square with balloons and pastel decor, big LED-style screens using custom panels, and a milk-themed farm area with white pergolas that hint at the dairy behind the ice cream. There is even a maze-like path near the central lake that traps you briefly before looping you back to the main storefront.
Since the campaign only runs throughout July 2026, this dream address may go offline once the promotion ends. Visit as soon as possible to secure the exclusive designs before it disappears.
Both islands offer plenty of things to keep you busy, and since dreams do not let you take physical items home, custom designs are the main prize. Here is a rundown of what to do during your visit and what to grab from each.
Save Every Custom Design You Like — Head straight to the custom design portal near the entrance. Grab everything before you start touring, so you do not forget later.
Walk Through Every Zone — Both islands are packed with hidden corners, secret beaches, and themed areas that are easy to miss if you rush.
Try On the Outfits — You can change clothes in a dream, so put on the sweaters or uniforms and take some fun photos.
Take Screenshots for Inspiration — Use the in-game camera to capture builds, fence styles, and layout ideas you want to try later.
Play the Mini Games — On Nintendo's island, the Mario Land section works almost like a mini platformer level with coins to follow and pipes that warp you to secret spots.
Rate the Island with Isabelle — Nintendo's island has an Isabelle standee where you can playfully "rate" the island, adding a bit of charm to your tour.
Save these to your pro design slots or use the design ID at Able Sisters back home:

Beyond the designs themselves, both islands are goldmines for creative inspiration. Some fun takeaways include placing custom flags on mushrooms at your entrance, customizing your fences with unique patterns, building a small kid-core play area, adding fossil displays outside the museum, incorporating a wedding or ceremony space, and creating a milk-and-dairy or ice cream-themed farm zone. Even little touches like two-square vegetable patches next to villager houses can add tons of personality to your island.
Official Nintendo islands remain one of the best-kept secrets in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, especially for players who love collecting rare custom designs. Right now in 2026, you have a golden window to tour both Nintendo's long-running "Nintend" island and the limited-time Baskin-Robbins collab island before it disappears at the end of July. Whichever one you visit first, be sure to save every design you like, take screenshots of the builds that inspire you, and enjoy a rare peek into how Nintendo and its partners bring Animal Crossing to life. Happy dreaming, and see you on the next island tour.
